Proudly presenting the Midwest premiere of Jeff Beal’s The Beatitudes, with composer presenting and performing!

“Illumination” traces expressions of joy and celebration across centuries and traditions, opening with Undine Smith Moore’s jubilant “Glory to God.” Puccini’s “Gloria in excelsis” from his Messa di Gloria and Mascagni’s “Regina Coeli” from Cavalleria Rusticana bring Italian operatic grandeur. The program culminates in the Midwest premiere of Jeff Beal’s “The Beatitudes,” offering a contemporary vision of light and hope.

Jeff Beal is a five-time Emmy Award–winning American composer celebrated for his richly atmospheric scores for film and television, including House of Cards and Monk. He will join us as a special guest for this program as a flugelhorn soloist. Learn more.

• St. Mary of the Lake is a fully accessible venue for those with mobility limitations. There are no required steps to get from the entrance to your seat, or to access the restrooms. There is a ramp to reach the main entrance on Sheridan Road. There are two wheelchair-accessible restrooms.
