2015-2016 Season Overview

Music In The Neighborhood

Every fall Apollo brings its celebrated choral music to Chicago’s ethnically diverse neighborhoods, with a FREE program featuring selections from our upcoming season as well as past favorites. This year we are honored to be performing at the beautiful Second Presbyterian Church on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. The concert will feature a wide variety of music, including works by Handel, Mendelssohn, and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Handel’s Messiah

Few works are more time-honored than Handel’s Messiah. The Apollo Chorus has been presenting this glorious masterpiece annually since 1879, a track record unmatched in the city of Chicago. The Chicago Tribune hailed Apollo’s performances as a “venerable holiday tradition” performed with “an exultant spirit that came from the heart.” The unparalleled quartet of soloists includes soprano Amanda Majeski, fresh from her acclaimed performances in The Passenger at Lyric Opera. We know this year's Messiah performances will be our most memorable to date. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the power and passion of Messiah as you’ve never heard it before.
